Mika Hutton

Committee Chair

Kids can just say Mika lol. I am taking over from Jen as committee chair. I’m originally from Kansas and came to Colorado about 11 years ago. I love all things astronomy and love doing craft projects. This will be my fifth year in scouting. And my favorite memory is starting a project with a scout who point blank told me they couldn’t do that activity. That they were incapable. We work together to solve some problems and turns out that scout was definitely able to do the activity and enjoyed it quite a lot. The transition from ” it’s impossible” to ” look I did it” is really special to me. I love Pinewood Derby!!! I want our scouts to know that they can achieve their goals, and I hope that I can contribute to that confidence.

Courtney Caruso

Bear Assistant Den Leader

I am called Mrs. Courtney by the scouts, and I am originally from Louisiana. This is my 3rd year in scouting and I am looking forward to seeing everyone and all of the social events! Watching the kids apply what they’ve learned in Scouts to real-life situations is incredibly rewarding! I once witnessed a Scout being bullied at school, and before I had a chance to step in, another Scout calmly intervened. With politeness and maturity beyond their years, they defused the situation without any need for adult involvement. It was a proud moment, seeing the values of kindness and grace put into action so naturally. One of my favorite ways to get a laugh is by breaking into spontaneous dance sessions between assignments. The best part? Watching the shyest kids light up and join in! There’s something about seeing a grown-up being goofy and dancing like nobody’s watching that helps them let loose too. Soon they’re all showing off their moves, laughing, and having the time of their lives, it’s the best kind of chaos!

Jillian Berchek

Tiger Den Leader and Advancement Chair

You can call me “Jillian” or “Mrs. Berchek” or even “Owen’s Mom” 🙂

I’m a stay-at-home mom of two who enjoys baking, reading, puzzles, and crafts. I’m originally from the Ozarks but fell in love with the mountains at a young age. This will be just the second year for me. I wasn’t a scout as a kid so when Owen came home from school announcing that he wanted to be a scout, we had a lot to learn! My favorite memory so far is how proud Owen was to earn his first adventure loops.

I’m looking forward to camping and participating in the activities that we didn’t get to last year. There’s always something new to try! I hope to leave a legacy of kindness and service to others and the planet.

Todd Berchek

Tiger Assistant Den Leader

You can call me Todd/Mr. Todd/Owen’s dad or as my kids sometimes call me: Big Fella! I am from Missouri and have been in Colorado for 10 years. I am a certified Arborist and professional tree climber, and I like just about every outdoor activity you can think of. This will be my 2nd year being involved with scouting. My best memory in scouting would have to be: Being a part of the Colorado Jamboree in 2024 and the Centennial District day camp this summer (2025) have been awesome experiences! I am looking forward to all the fun activities and adventures this year. When my Scouting journey comes to an end, I hope that I am a helping part in building the foundation of what can become lifelong lessons and skills.
